Don’t be Distracted

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
There was once a guy named Leo. Leo had a race. He loved running. He knew he had to run fast, or he would lose.
He started running. He tried to focus on his speed, but he felt a bit bored and tired.
Then he saw a beautiful butterfly! He had never seen this type in his life! He wanted to see it. Just for a FEW seconds. He followed it. And he forgot about running, just for a bit, though…
Leo ended up losing the race, because the distractions had already cost him his speed…
A sad story, right?
Distraction is the major tool of the devil to make us lose our speed, our focus, and our goals in Christ.
Our opening verse says, ‘Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith’. Looking unto, or focusing on Jesus. Why? Because what you focus on becomes you!
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he… Pro 23:7
What you constantly think about actually becomes where you are in life.
Focusing on Jesus would produce the gifts that Jesus wants you to have in your life.
To get us distracted from Jesus, the devil uses different things. Challenges, fear, doubt, people going out of their way to hurt you, anger, bitterness, and hurt from this, discouragement, etc.
Focusing, or thinking much about any of these things will make your life a mirror of them. For example, you could become an angry, vengeful, and easily hurt person if you allow anger to dwell in your heart for too long without forgiving, healing and moving on.
You could become fearful and depressed if you allow fear or discouragement to dwell in your heart for too long too.
The devil also uses people to distract us. We have to know that this is his focus, and be careful how we respond to little issues, gists, attitudes, talk, etc. that people bring up around us.
Jesus noticed this in Peter, and said, Get thee behind me, Satan! He recognized that a lot of the time, it’s not the person, but the devil just trying to use them to distract us.
What is distracting you today? What has been distracting you recently? Actively fight against it, because the blessings, speed, and grace God has for you, all depend on the state of focus of your mind.
You shall win in Jesus Name.
CONFESSION
I refuse to be distracted. The weapons of my warfare is not carnal, but is mighty through God. I pull down strongholds, I cast down imaginations, and every high thing which exalts itself against the knowledge of God in Christ. I bring into captivity every thought in my mind to the obedience of Christ. I am focused and a victor, in Jesus Name!

Matthew 14:29-30 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
