What Jesus Really Did on the Cross

Friday 7th April 2023
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3
Because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross about 2000 years ago, we have the life of God today.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 NKJV
Only God has everlasting life, because only God lives forever. Everlasting life is the life of God.
This is the very life Jesus gave to us through His sacrifice on the cross. The Greek calls it “zoen aionion”, or “life without beginning or end”.
Before the death of Christ on the cross of Calvary, no one else had this life but God Himself. However, the death of Jesus enabled us who believe in Him have the ability to become the children of God, having His own life and nature:
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
John 1:12
The sinner died with Christ; the sinner was buried with Christ; but a new creature, arose with Christ. This is your new nature (person). The Christian is the one who is just like Christ – 1 John 4:17. He lives the divine, supernatural life in Christ Jesus, believes that God raised Him from the dead, and confesses His Lordship. He’s a completely new type of creature not seen on the earth ever before. Jesus had to die, rise again and send the Holy Ghost, before this new creature could come, using the bodies of those who gave their lives to Christ:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
These creatures were made in Christ before the foundation of the earth:
Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us[b] for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
Now, we are called to LIVE according to how we were made. Grace is not a licence to do wrong, but the strength to live right, and we have it in Christ.
The death and burial of Jesus Christ made a new world, with new creatures possible. The new creatures were created in Him (Jesus Christ), who would pay the price for them to be born. However, they could not come until that price was paid.
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
Ephesians 1:4-7 NLT
The son of a king does not need to do anything to be a prince. It’s his just by birth.
Now know that you have entered into rest, peace, and power, just by reason of your birth in Christ! You do not have to pay for it. The price has already been paid.
Your blessings, power and being a king-priest are not due to your actions. You have them by birth, hallelujah! All you have to do is be conscious of it, speak and enforce it, glory to God!
CONFESSION
I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. The blood of Jesus has paid for a life which my new man is walking in now, and which my old man never knew. I am full of power, grace, rest and increase in life. I reign and rule in life. The power of God is mightily at work in me now!
