The Power of Speaking in Tongues in the Bible

speaking in tongues

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

The Word tells us in our opening verse that speaking in tongues (praying in the Holy Ghost) helps us build ourselves up in our faith, hallelujah.

When we speak in tongues, we are built up in our inner man, in our spirits. We rise in the realm of the spirit, because the spiritual controls the physical (1 John 4:4, 1 John 5:4-5).

Jude 1:20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit.

When you speak in tongues, you rise physically, mentally, and spiritually. Physically, you get more of the anointing for healing, strength, etc in your body. Mentally, when you speak in tongues, you get revelations, inspiration, and ideas on the best course of action to take. Spiritually, you grow and become more powerful in the realm of the spirit.

Speaking in other tongues is the quickest way to hear the voice of God. If you ever want to hear from the Lord, spend some real quality time speaking in tongues, and soon you will hear and know what to do.

Speaking in tongues is a sure way to getting spiritual gifts from the Lord. Speaking the Word and in tongues both take advantage of the power in your spirit to give you miraculous results. Your spirit knows how to get what you need (1 John 2:20), but you need to activate that power by speaking to it, by the Word or in tongues.

1 Cor 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

It is the surest way to confuse the devil while you pray and communicate with your Father. When you pray in other tongues, the devil does not know your prayer points, or the thoughts that come into your heart from the Lord. As the Lord continues speaking to you and you continue praying with what He is showing you, the devil is confused.

Speaking in tongues is the language of the Spirit (1 Cor 14:2). You might not know what your future holds, but the Spirit of God knows. It is the best way to prepare yourself for the future by praying for it!

CONFESSION

I’m speaking in tongues and building myself up in the spirit mightily. My spirit is being built up, and I am preparing myself for my future. I am rising higher like an edifice and becoming all that the Lord has prepared for me by tongues and by the Word. I rule in the affairs of life by the language of the Spirit, in Jesus mighty Name.

MORE LIGHT (MEDITATE AND PRAY WITH THESE)

Mark 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.

Acts 19:1-6 ¶ And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard [this], they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid [his] hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
