Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

We have been looking at the 7 major secrets of success. These are the major foundations of success, on which everything else stands. With these, you can always run, and be assured of success.

We have listed the following:

  1. Continuous personal improvement
  2. Discover you, your path, what works for you, and keep on following it
  3. Focus
  4. Hard work – tireless action

The fifth one is strategic planning.

A lot of people do not know the value of strategic planning.

First, what is strategy? The dictionary says strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term or overall aim.

So the question is,

  1. Do you have a long-term goal for your life?
  2. Have you planned out the strategic actions and steps you would need to take now and over the coming years to achieve that long-term goal?

Someone once said “The essence of strategic planning is choosing what not to do.”.

Without a good strategy, you would spend all your time and resources on the wrong things that would not bring you success.

Life is not just about movement. It is about strategic, deliberate movement. Are you doing what you are doing right now because you FELT like doing it, or because you have a very concrete plan/strategy for it?

Lack of strategy and focus is the major cause of failure.

If you want to move forward in life, take some time to think, develop, and write down a good strategic plan of action. But don’t just stop there. IMPLEMENT it.

Even with the grace and favour of God, you need to be strategic with the time, opportunities, and resources He makes available to you.

The parable of the talents (Mt 25:14ff) tells us how the master (representing our Lord), gave some talents to his servants. The ones who used the superior strategy of trading with theirs, were commended and blessed by the master. However, the one who used a wrong strategy of burying his talent had it taken from him and given to the one with 5.

The master also called this last servant wicked and lazy. This is because, the Lord sees good strategy as diligent thinking.

Let your diligence show in crafting, writing and working on better strategies today.

You will win in Jesus Name.
