‘His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ‘ Matthew 25:21

In the parable of the talents, a master went on a journey and shared different talents among his servants based on their differing abilities. When he came back, he noticed that they had each used their talents differently and produced different results. Some had multiplied their talents, and others had not.

Notice here that the servants who did well multiplied their talents in the way their master wanted. According to the parable, the master just wanted more money. Notice also that the master is a type (or representation) of our heavenly Father. In other words, we are supposed to multiply the gifts our Father gives us the way He wants us to.

For the servants who multiplied the talents the way the master wanted, the master took the talents from those who didn’t, and gave them more talents. For the servant who did not multiply his, the master took his talent away from him.

Talents represent the resources, gifts, and blessings of God.

Put differently, we have been given the opportunity to have some resources, gifts, and blessings from God. How we are able to put them to use in the way the Father wants them to be put to use, would determine if more of these resources would be given to us.

The Father wants us to use our talents, resources, and blessings for the Kingdom and for the Gospel (Matt 6:33). The more we use our resources, time, and blessings for this, the more of them we will receive from the Lord.

Are you using your time and opportunities for the Lord? Are you sharing the Word of God when you see it like this online? Are you working for Him in your local church?
