WHAT ARE YOUR ACTS

‘Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. ‘

Acts 8:4-5

 

The book of Acts is an account of the start of the Church after the death and resurrection of Jesus. It records what the early apostles did after the Lord spoke to them, then ascended into heaven. Note that just like us, they never saw him physically again, but received the promise of the Holy Spirit.

 

The general belief is that we are in a situation very different from that of the Apostles who were inspired to preach the Gospel after Christ’s resurrection and ascension. After all, most of them were with Christ when He was alive.

 

However, the man who actually labored more for Christ than them all (1 Corinthians 15:10) never walked with Christ while he was alive. His name was Paul.

 

So, the book of Acts gives us an account of mere men like us, who received the Lord Jesus and the gift of the Holy Spirit, and what they did after they received Him.

 

Today, you and I are just like them.

 

The book of Acts would not be the last spiritual book written about the acts of mere men who did this. The Bible tells us that on the last day, various books would be opened just before the great white throne judgement in the book of Revelation. These are the records of the acts of men and the saints.

 

‘And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened.’ Revelation 20:12a

 

Reading the Acts of the Apostles, you would notice that the narrative changes a bit in chapter 8 to tell of the passion of a man named Philip (who was not even one of the 12), in preaching the Gospel wherever he went.

 

Just like these, we are being told by the Holy Spirit to preach the Word through different means, and wherever we go, today.

 

If, just like the Acts of the Apostles, a book of the Acts of Christians is being written right now, in heaven or somewhere else, would it tell of your passion just as the story of Philip was mentioned?

 

The Lord is calling us into deeper obedience and consecration to His Word and His Spirit.

 

What would be your decision and response today?

 

The Spirit and the Bride say come… deeper into Christ. (Revelation 22:17)

 

CONFESSION

 

I am obedient to the call of the Holy Spirit to preach the Word and tell of His glorious wonders through various means, and everywhere I go. I am obedient to the Lord’s voice and His Word. I am strong to do the most important thing, just like Mary when Jesus visited, and listen to His voice, and obey His Word. I am a faithful follower of Christ in Jesus mighty Name.

Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

 

Colossians 3:17 ‘And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.’
